Soothing still, 
these bedtime stories
that linger in the morning, 
easy lies smothering the repercussions 
from wearing masks of polite niceties
over internal lives carved from hatred

In the afternoon, 
We talk in small circles 
around elephant truths
full of silken secrets 
buried in silence between sentences 
as we drink our wine

And how We suffer 
in the openness of the evening
when our naked sentiments
stumble drunkenly in for dinner, 
whispering with honesty 
that even saints can sin.
