Women, Interrupted

"Shattered Silence"
11" x 14" mixed media on canvas board

The greatest barrier
to the advancement of women
is actually the social construct
hovering just above the glass ceiling

It demands that we mold ourselves
into life-sized Barbie dolls
of perfect attributes
few of us actually possess

So we bicker among ourselves,
a curious form of divide & conquer
where we battle to be
the last bitch standing

Yet in the end,
whether we
sport a size 6 or a 20,
use makeup or go natural,
wear a hijab or a suit,
stay single or marry,
pursue a career or a family,
we're all still superwomen
allowing men
destroying our Earth
to dictate
which choices are okay.
